Pownce.com is a social networking site that also serves as a micro-blogging platform (a la Twitter).

Members can send out music, photos, digital files, messages, links, and events to friends.  And these messages may be broadcasted publicly or privately to a select group.

Instant Messaging
Once a member joins and downloads the desktop software, members can communicate to each other through an instant messenger (IM).  This IM client is robust and allows text, links, events, and digital files to be transferred.

Profile Pages
The profile page looks similar to a blog with the daily messages/instant messages published in the center column, and links to friends and other social profiles linked on the left column.

Members may also post messages directly from the profile page if they decide not to use their instant messenger.

Demographics
The site has roughly 125K monthly unique visitors from the United States. The majority of visitors are from the U.S.  This network includes a slightly older demographic with 72% of users over 35 years old.  88% of users are Caucasian, and 56% of visitors are women.
