CarDomain
CarDomain.com claims to be the largest online community for auto enthusiasts. The site offers members a way to share information about their cars, join groups with people who have similar car interests, exchange ideas on how to modify cars, watch videos, blog, and find car-related events around the United States.
What’s unique about CarDomain.com is that there are two types of profile pages – member profile pages and car profile pages.
Member Profiles
The member profile pages feature all the typical social networking features like list of friends, guestbooks, videos, picture gallaries, etc.
And within each member’s profile page is a garage section, which provides a quick link into the member’s car’s profile.
Car Profiles
The car profile pages usually feature pictures, commentary on how the car is being modified, and a laundry list of modifications and enhancements.
Each modification that the member has used to enhance the vehicle is listed on the left sidebar – which is a tag that links out to other members who have used that exact part. It provides a quick way to see how popular a particular brand or performance part is within the community.
This is extremely helpful for auto enthusiasts who want to get advice about adding a particular feature to their car.
Videos
The video area is the “YouTube” section of the site where members can upload their favorite car-related video into the site. Members can vote and comment on any videos that have been uploaded.
Groups
The groups section provides an easy way for members to join groups with members of CarDomain who have similar interests. Groups are based around popular car makes and models.
Events
The events area has an events calendar to show members what car-related events are coming up. It also has a news section that provides information on what happened at previous auto events.
Blog
The blog area is edited and written only by people who work at CarDomain.com. Members are only allowed to comment in this area.
Custom Shop
The custom shop section pulls members out of the site to an e-commerce platform where members can purchase auto parts through ridepros.com.
Demographics
According to the CarDomain.com media kit, their members are highly concentrated in the ages of 16 to 24 and spend roughly 16.7 minutes on the site. They report following demographic information:
- Male: 71% of Unique Visitors
- Age 18-24: 24% of Unique Visitors
- Age 25-34: 21% of Unique Visitors
- Student: 12% of Unique Visitors
They claim to have 98,000 daily visitors, but this contradicts the unique visitor count from Compete.com, which estimates around 1 million visitors a month.
